How are SGK contributions calculated?

Employee SGK contribution is 15% of gross salary: 14% social security premium (disability-old age-death 9% + general health 5%) and 1% unemployment insurance. Contributions are capped at the SGK ceiling (minimum wage × 7.5).

What is the minimum wage income tax exemption?

Since January 2022, salary income up to the minimum wage amount is exempt from income tax. This means the tax that would have been calculated on the post-SGK portion of the minimum wage is not deducted from your salary.

How do income tax brackets work in Turkey?

Turkey uses a progressive tax system. For 2026 salary income: 15% on first ₺158,000, 20% up to ₺330,000, 27% up to ₺800,000, 35% up to ₺4,300,000, and 40% above. Brackets are applied cumulatively over the year.

What is stamp tax?

Stamp tax (damga vergisi) is levied at 0.759% of gross salary. It appears as a separate deduction on payslips and is withheld and remitted by the employer.
